Khloe Kardashian is detailing how her divorce from Lamar Odom "prepared" her for her ex Tristan Thompson's "traumatic" cheating scandal.
The Kardashians star shared the vulnerable take on the July 2 episode of her podcast Khloé in Wonder Land where she encouraged listeners to send in their burning questions, noting how nothing was "off limits," per People. When one person asked when she felt like the "strongest version" of herself, Kardashian said it was a matter of enduring all of the hardships she has faced.
"I feel like I've had many moments that sort of prepared me for other situations in my life, where I was able to endure them," she said. "So I feel like everything that happens in our lives is meant to happen, and even if they're not all positive situations, I do think that there's steps in why things happen to you."
One such situation was her very public split from Odom and navigating that tumultuous time while also dealing with his substance abuse issues that landed him in the hospital after a near-fatal overdose in 2015. She finalized their divorce the following year.
"Me going through such a public divorce and handling that — and yes, it was between him and I, and it was a great love that was now lost and that whole thing — it was so public," she said. "So public that I've never dealt with something like that before. But I dealt with it and I had my family's support and all of that."
The 41-year-old reality star later lived through another personal hardship in 2018 when Thompson, her then-boyfriend, cheated on her while she was nine months pregnant with their first child, daughter True, an instance that "obviously no one can prepare you for."
"[The divorce] was sort of a stepping stone, if you will, for the next big traumatic thing that happened to me, [which] was when Tristan cheated on me right before I gave birth," she said, adding, "It was so public and it was everywhere. But I think I handled it the best that I knew how because I almost got a little experience of it, or a lot of experience of it, from my divorce with Lamar. So it sort of prepared me."
Though Kardashian and Thompson reconciled and went on to have another child via surrogate in August 2022, son Tatum, they split for good in January of that year after he fathered a child with another woman while they were still together.
The Good American co-founder said she is "really proud" of herself for they way she handled "so many" of those difficult experiences throughout her life.
"Everything prepared me for each experience in my life," she said, "and I think when you overcome those experiences, you feel really strong."
Earlier this year, Kardashian explained why she doesn't take her exes' past infidelity personally as well as the reason why her daughter thinks she is "married" to Thompson despite their split.
