Macaulay Culkin is setting the record straight about his name, years after changing it as a "joke."

While answering a question at "A Nostalgic Night with Macaulay Culkin" to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the beloved Christmas film Home Alone, the Saved! actor, 45, reminded fans that his "actual name" is Macaulay Macaulay Culkin Culkin. He legally changed his middle name from Carson to be the same as his first and last in 2019 after a November 2018 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon introduced a poll where fans could vote on his new moniker, per People.

"The final vote was Macaulay Culkin," he said at the event on Saturday (November 22). "So my name is Macaulay Macaulay Culkin Culkin. If somebody comes up to me at the airport and says, 'Excuse me, are you Macaulay Culkin?' I can say, 'Well, Macaulay Culkin is my middle name."

He explained how that exact scenario inspired the choice, telling the crowd, "I did it all for that one joke. And a bit on Fallon."

"Macaulay Culkin" wasn't the only hilarious choice in the poll. Other options included "The McRib is Back" as well as "Kieran." The latter is made even funnier when you consider that is his younger brother's actual name, Academy Award-winning actor Kieran Culkin. Macaulay reflected on how "great" that option would have been.

"Macaulay Kieran Culkin. That would be great," he said. "I love my brother. Between me and him we have exactly one Oscar."
