Two Killed In Florida Lightning Strike

Thunder Storm Approaches Ft. Myers Florida

A tragic incident occurred in Margate, Florida, on Sunday (August 23) when a lightning strike claimed the lives of a 31-year-old woman and her 2-year-old daughter. According to the Margate Police Department, the victims, identified as Kenya Glasgow and her daughter, were struck by lightning around 2:30 p.m. while walking on a sidewalk near NW 1st Street.

First responders from Margate Police and Fire Rescue arrived promptly at the scene and began administering aid, including CPR. Glasgow was transported to North Broward Medical Center in Deerfield Beach, while her daughter was taken to Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, both were pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospitals.

Local resident Prince Moody described the event, saying, "I heard the loudest lightning strike I could hear, thunder, and an orange glow went through my window." The incident has left the community in shock, with many expressing their condolences to the family.

The Margate Police Department is currently investigating the incident. They have extended their deepest condolences to the victims' family and loved ones during this difficult time.
