Liam Payne is finally being laid to rest as details about his funeral are emerging.

The MailOnline is reporting that while investigators are still looking into the former One Direction singer's death, his body is expected to be flown back to the UK, and a "large-scale service" will take place to remember Liam.

A "close friend" of Payne's told MailOnline, "Liam's body is expected to be flown home any day now,' adding, 'Arrangements are in place for that now and once his body is back in Britain the next step will be to announce the funeral plan."

Another source told MailOnline, "Liam will have a very big send off, quite probably at a large cathedral somewhere close to his heart. Liam was so loved by so many people, there will obviously be enormous demand and so the service will necessarily be a huge affair."

Details on the "lavish" funeral "should be announced very soon."

It's been several weeks since Liam Payne tragically passed away. Payne was found dead at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina after falling from the balcony of his third floor room into the courtyard.

According to CNN, a preliminary autopsy report shows that the former One Direction singer died from multiple injuries causing "internal and external hemorrhage." Drug paraphernalia was found in Liam's hotel room, and a toxicology report shows that "pink cocaine" was found in his system — a very dangerous drug cocktail.

Payne was just 31 years old, and leaves behind his seven-year-old son Bear, who he shares with ex Cheryl Cole.
