Lorde is just days away from dropping her fourth album Virgin, and visited The Late Show With Stephen Colbert ahead of its release.

During the interview, they spoke about the album's x-ray cover and the singer's surprise show in New York City's Washington Park getting shut down by the police. When the topic of her upcoming "Ultrasound Tour" arose, Lorde revealed that she underwent MDMA therapy in an attempt to help rid her of stage fright — and it worked.

"I had truly the most horrific stage fright, really since I was, like, five doing community theater," the 28-year-old divulged. "I tried everything for my stage fright. I did this therapy and literally, I woke up the next day, and I was like, ‘Oh, it’s over. I know it’s over.”

She continued by detailing her journey with the unconventional therapy method. You can watch the whole interview below and hear Lorde speak about overcoming her stage fright at the 5:45 mark.

Since announcing Virgin at the end of April, Lorde has been very open about the album's deeply personal themes, including her own personal journey with gender identity.

“I felt like stopping taking my birth control, I had cut some sort of cord between myself and this regulated femininity,” she explained about how the album's single "Man of the Year" came to be. “It sounds crazy, but I felt that all of a sudden, I was off the map of femininity. And I totally believed that that allowed things to open up.”

The song was then written as a way for the artist to visualize a version of herself “that was fully representative of how [her] gender felt in that moment.”

Virgin is slated for a June 27 release.
